Your first consultation:
Please allow at least one hour for your first consultation. This gives us the full opportunity to assess your injury or condition, leading to an explanation of your diagnosis, and allowing time for treatment and self help strategies. We will be able to advise you regarding a treatment plan and an approximate number and frequency of sessions you will require. Please arrive 5 minutes before your initial session to complete the necessary paperwork prior to treatment.
A referral letter from your Consultant, GP, or other referring practitioner, if appropriate, along with copies of any other relevant letters, x-rays, MRI scans or other investigations or results. It is also helpful to have a list of any medication you may be taking at the time. Please note that it is not necessary to have a referral, we are very happy to see self referring patients; however this may have implications if you are claiming through your medical insurance company.
Loose comfortable clothing which will allow easy access to the body part to be treated e.g. shorts for low back and lower limb problems, and a strappy top or sports bra for upper limb and neck problems. It is also beneficial to bring footwear for sports injuries.
You may be accompanied should you wish and we would ask that a parent or carer is present during the treatment of any children.
You will be treated in a private room and, barring illness or holiday, will keep the same physiotherapist throughout your treatment and rehabilitation.
